This pocket knife was originally from the Maremma, a western coastal area of central Italy between Lazio and Tuscany. This area is well known for its cattle ranching, producing excellent cheese and the famous Fiorentina steak.
The first recorded Maremmano knife, handmade in Scarperia, was confiscated from a criminal in Tuscany in 1871 and can now be found in a museum in Florence!
