Eugenio Ricciarelli was born and raised in Deruta, where he lives and works. His talents as a ceramicist were discovered and encouraged by Franco Mari. After a long apprenticeship in Mari's celebrated workshop, Eugenio founded his own family business more than 30 years ago. His colorful, distinctive designs are widely imitated but never equaled.
Deruta is a small town in Umbria, in the heart of Italy. It has been one of the most vital centers for the production of Italian ceramics since the Renaissance (15th century). Today, Deruta is highly regarded worldwide for the fine quality and beauty of its pottery.
