Planter Flower Basket
Descriptions & details
Geometric designs are typical of Deruta pottery. They are inspired by decorative elements used by Italian artists in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, such as peacock's eyes, cornucopias, scrolls, acanthus leaves, pomegranates, and dolphins. Painted in marginal areas on ceramics, frescoes and paintings, these elements had either a symbolic meaning or provided the artist with the opportunity to create elaborate compositions, thus showing off their technical skills.

Handmade & hand-painted in Deruta, Italy
Francesca Niccacci lives in Deruta, where she started her own business in 1975. Her ceramics have won her awards and praises on both sides of the pond. Francesca's work is eclectic, ranging from Renaissance-style portraits to geometrics, from traditional Deruta patterns to bold new collections. Yet, whatever the challenge, she consistently achieves the most striking results driven by indisputable talent, experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm.
Deruta is a small town in Umbria, in the heart of Italy. It has been one of the most vital centers for the production of Italian ceramics since the Renaissance (15th century). Today, Deruta is highly regarded worldwide for the fine quality and beauty of its pottery.
