This vase is the outstanding result of creative excellence and technical mastery.
Its apparently simple pattern – Millerighe, in Italian “a thousand stripes” – is very challenging, in fact. On the one hand, the painter must be exceptionally skilful to paint perfect stripes. On the other hand he must know exactly the impact of the firing on each color, in order to avoid a messy result. And colors do need different firing temperatures to result at their best.
D&G are two young artists, with a great creative talent and an excellent experience on traditional Italian ceramics. Some of D&G pottery may seem very traditional, but at a closer look it will always reveal a unique touch, be it an unusual color or a different way to interpret a classic pattern.
