Laveri highlights and provides with a new dignity the apparently meaningless things that cross our path everyday, without having the chance of being noticed.
\nTheir role in our life is reversed: they become giant artworks, grab our attention, escape death through the miracle of the firing.<\/p>\n

\"stilo1.JPG\"<\/a>His Truka lipsticks, his Stylo pens, his Moka coffee makers and the beautiful cork screw become the splendid symbols of our contemporary beings. Laveri\u2019s glamorous and seductive ceramics stimulate all our senses.<\/p>\n

Giorgio Laveri was born in Savona, Liguria, a place which a 600 year-old tradition in ceramic making. His eclectic creativity applies to any of his areas of interest: cinema, theatre, sculpture, painting.<\/p>\n

On Thursday January 31st 2008, the Terre d\u2019Arte Gallery, Via Maria Vittoria 20\/A \u2013 Turin, will inaugurate an exhibition entitled \u201cPersonal Effects\u201d, featuring ceramic pieces by Savona artist Giorgio Laveri.
\n<\/em>
\nThe exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue published by Terre d\u2019Arte and compiled by Riccardo Zelatore.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"truka.jpg\"<\/a>Giorgio Laveri is an eclectic artist, fascinated by the world of images, a relentless experimenter for whom the visual<\/em> arts have neither barriers nor distinctions. Starting from the early 1970s, Giorgio Laveri has acquired significant artistic experience in cinematographic and theatrical fields, while undertaking pictorial and plastic research aimed at developing relationships between various artistic disciplines.<\/em><\/p>\n

The work of Giorgio Laveri, in which the accentuation of colour and compositional quality find particular emphasis in ceramic materials, highlights the discrepancy between ruthless consumerism and the passion with which man bonds with objects, between the annihilation of meaning and the emotional need of form and object, between the tendency towards abandon and the need for recovery.<\/em><\/p>\n

Giorgio Laveri was born in Savona. After completing a vocational training course on television direction, he<\/em> collaborated with Salvatore Passarella and painted a series of murals on the condition of the Chilean people after the 1972 coup (Milan, Rome, Brescia, Vicenza).<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1973, he organised his first personal exhibition at the Vultur Gallery in Genoa, and with Nando Anerdi<\/em>\"laveri.jpg\"<\/a> of the \u201cDerby di Milano\u201d, he founded the \u201cRosacroce\u201d Theatre Group. After a series of collaborations with various cinematographic productions, he shot his first short film, \u201cThe Sleeping Beauty\u201d, which was an integral part of a satirical play he had written.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1974, he dedicated his professional activities to cinema and theatre.
\nMeanwhile, he undertook research into artistic expression linked to ceramics and to cinema. At the beginning of the 1980s he mounted numerous personal exhibitions on such a theme with catalogues by Giorgio Dibitonto, Silvia Broggi, Marco Casiraghi and Brasilia Pellegrinelli.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1985, he produced a line of office ceramics based on a \u201ccinematographic\u201d theme and the Banque National de Paris organised an exhibition of his work at the \u2018Sala delle Quattro Colonne\u2019 in its Milan offices.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1986, \u201cCineceramica\u201d was presented in the Eolie Islands during the celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the Titanus Cinematografica.<\/em><\/p>\n

The \u201cCeramic Frames\u201d, inspired by great films, constituted the exhibition which was also presented in Trani, Albisola and Milan in the \u201cGalleria del Duomo\u201d on the occasion of the prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the 1988 Venice Film Festival.<\/em><\/p>\n

At the end of the 1980s, the first of numerous Ceramic-Light-Movement experiments was born. These included \u201cDelitto in Cineceramica\u201d (\u201cCrime in Cineceramics\u201d): a play whose national premiere was shown at the Borgio Verezzi Theatre Festival. In parallel to this event, proposed in numerous Italian cities, an exhibition was presented featuring large scale pieces based on his theatre work.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1993, he joined French group Art Mobil with whom he organised a series of events in Italy and France. With Patrick Moya and Veronique Champollion he subscribed to the first part of the Manifesto of the Mediterranean Artistic Movement, which is still evolving today.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1996, together with the Department of Mental Health of Genoa, he founded the \u201cIl Giardino del Mago\u201d (\u201cThe Magician\u2019s Garden\u201d) with which he produced an extensive series of work linked to cinematographic, pictorial and theatrical experimentation.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1997, he presented a new series of ceramic work in the Montecarlo offices of the Banque National de Paris.<\/em><\/p>\n

From 1998 to the present day, his work has been characterised by 94 events, ranging from experimentation to theatrical performance. Among the most recent, in December 2007 he presented a personal exhibition entitled \u201cMan & Woman\u201d at the Insight Gallery in Rome and participated in \u201cStart Miami\u201d, presented by the Design District – Miami.
