This wall plate depicts the portrait of Simonetta Vespucci as Cleopatra from a painting by the Italian Renaissance painter Piero di Cosimo (1480) housed in the Condé Museum in Chantilly (France).
The scroll or white ribbon surrounding Simonetta is marked with the words Anima Mea (My Soul).
During the Italian Renaissance display plates were intended as engagement or wedding gifts for lovers. They celebrated the ideals of beauty and virtue, often depicting a Bella Donna, a beautiful lady, surrounded by speaking scrolls.
Fascinated by this ancient tradition, Francesca Niccacci pays tribute to it in her own special way, choosing for her portraits the exquisite female beauties from the works of the most famous Italian painters. Francesca is an internationally renowned artist from Deruta. Her work evokes the splendors of Italian Renaissance, that revive on her breathtaking istoriato scenes, portraits and elaborate scrolls.

Product availability: if not in stock, Francesca Niccacci’s ceramics are available in 4/5 weeks, with the exception of Christmas ornaments, that are available in 3 weeks.
