Know more about D&G Design

D&G stands for Demetra e Giovanni.
Giovanni is a young artist with a rich experience. He worked in Franco Mari’s fabbrica and in Eugenio Ricciarelli’s atelier. Some years ago he married a charming Turkish girl, Demetra,  graduated in Interior Design. After getting married, they started up their own tiny, one room atelier in Deruta. Since then they have been working together, his elbow touching hers while painting side by side, with an eye on their only son doing his homework near them.

His experience on Italian ceramics traditional design and her creativity have blended in a very personal and original style. Some of D&G ceramics may seem very traditional, but a closer look they will always reveal a unique touch, be it an unusual colour or a different way to interpret a classic pattern.

We’ve selected for you their geometric patterns and some of their more contemporary designs, such as Millerighe (the name means “a thousand stripes”) and their fruit pattern, which is totally freehand painted. Freehand painting on plate is a real torture test for an artist, especially when the design is rich in details and repetitive, like in plates. In those cases , painters usually use the “spolvero” technique.
